How to Use the Sample Set
Each pouch contains enough wood for 3–5 home tests. Recommended sequence for a first session.
Step 1: Visual Inspection (All 3 Pouches)
Hold each pouch under natural daylight. Look for:
- Irregular dark resin veins running through lighter wood.
- Visible wood grain (not a uniform surface).
- Hand-cut and polished appearance (not mirror-finished).
You should see a clear visual difference between the three grades. The Sinking-grade pouch will show the most resin density, the Semi-Sinking will show moderate density, and the standard chips will show the lightest surface.
Step 2: Water-Sinking Test (All 3 Pouches)
Drop a small piece from each pouch into a clear glass of room-temperature water. Observe the result over 30 seconds:
- Sinking-grade: sinks immediately (within 1 second).
- Semi-Sinking: slowly submerges (5–30 seconds).
- Standard: floats.

Step 3: Aroma Test (Cool Burn)
Heat a small piece from each pouch on an electric agarwood heater at 80–120 °C (never direct flame). Observe the aroma over 10 minutes:
- Sinking-grade: full multi-layered aroma (sweet honey → cooling menthol → deep wood).
- Semi-Sinking: sweet, warm, resinous, with a slightly shorter dry-down.
- Standard: light, clean, with less complexity.
